my beliefs were challenged

I've been quiet Reader,

Like… really quiet.

I haven't sent you an email in almost eight months, and I haven't published a podcast either.

And no, I didn't run out of things to say.

I needed to spent a lot of time paying attention to what was happening in my own life, mending fractured beliefs, and in the spaces where I work with people.

A lot has changed.

And honestly? I didn't want to keep showing up simply because the internet says we're supposed to keep showing up.

I wanted to say something with meaning from a place that feels safe.

I wanted to say:

  • What still matters to me.
  • What kind of work I want to do.
  • And what I believe people actually need from me right now.

I think I have a pretty good answer.

I still believe in self-awareness.

I still believe that the quality of the life we create has a lot to do with the quality of the relationship we have with ourselves and those closest to us.

I still believe that being “successful” isn't particularly useful if the way we're getting there is making us miserable.

And I still believe that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop trying so damn hard and actually pay attention to what's going on.

So...

I'm back.

Not with a giant new program.

Not with a 47-step system for reinventing your life.

Just with some things I've been thinking about, some things I've learned, and a little more space for honest conversations.

And I'm glad you're here.

I'll have more to share this week.

— Sincerely, Sonja

A small brown and white owl with closed eyes perched on a tree branch

There are some things we're generally remarkably good at doing alone. Paying bills. Showing up to work. Taking care of everybody else. Making the appointment. Handling the problem. Keeping things moving. And then there are the things we can spend months trying to figure out by ourselves. Should I stay or go? Is this really what I want? Why do I keep doing this? What happens next? Am I making the right decision? Why am I so tired when nothing is technically wrong? And sometimes we don’t even...

Let's say we had an hour together Reader, What would you talk about? Maybe you've been wondering if you're actually happy with the life you've created. Maybe work has changed and you're trying to figure out what comes next. Maybe you're exhausted from carrying something that nobody else seems to understand. Maybe there's a decision you've been avoiding. Maybe you're successful—but you're tired of being successful this way. Maybe you keep saying, “I know what I need to do,” and then somehow...
